One of the most powerful features of LiveJudge™ is its ability to handle composite awards -- functional categories that consist of multiple classes or ballots combined together and scored as a single award category.
How Composite Awards Work
Imagine a competition in which the judges' scores count for 80% of the score and the audience vote counts for 20%. Doing this manually is difficult because the math involved is not straightforward. Our system handles the math in realtime and leaves to you the simple task of assigning the relative importance of each component of the composite class.
To begin, access the "Composite Awards" menu item in the main nav. Identify the nature of the class (is it entry-based or individual-based) and give it a name and brief description. That's it.

In the second tab of the setup screen, choose from the left, the classes and ballots (any combination works) which make up the composite class. Assign your desired percent weights to each and save. The rest is handled by the system.

How Contestants Enter Composite Awards
Composite awards in individual-based events work identically to any other competition class. For entry-based events, the software enforces a rule which requires the contestant to use the SAME entry for each component class/ballot of the composite award.
Let's say that you have a 1965 Chevy Camaro that you have entered into the "Fan Favorite Muscle Car" voting ballot as well as the "Muscle Car Class" judging class. But you also own a 1969 Corvette Stingray. If the event offers an "Overall Muscle" composite class, you will be required to select only ONE of your cars (say the Camaro) for entry into the composite award. Doing so will automatically enter that car into the component ballot and class for "Overall Muscle." If the driver goes to change the Camaro to the Corvette in the Fan Favorite ballot, the system will not allow it unless the driver first changes it in the composite award.
